Roto Pumps to Showcase Biogas Pumping Solutions at World Biogas Expo 2025
Hall 3A | Stand F32 | The NEC, Birmingham | 9–10 July 2025
Roto Pumps, a global leader in progressive cavity pump technology, is gearing up for another impactful presence at the World Biogas Expo 2025 in Birmingham. Returning for their sixth consecutive year, Roto will be highlighting their specialized pumping solutions for biogas applications—solutions that have earned the trust of major contractors and operators across the UK and beyond.
“We’ve participated in this show multiple times, and it continues to be one of the most successful events for us,” said Sean Clark of Roto Pumps UK. “This year, we’ll be showcasing a full range of progressive cavity pumps designed specifically for biogas, including a Biomix pump on the stand for live inspection.”
Designed for the Demands of Biogas
At the heart of Roto’s biogas offering is its suite of robust, high-efficiency pumps engineered to handle the unique challenges of organic waste. From solid-laden slurry to viscous digestate, Roto’s Biomix (WBDB/M) and Biomass (RBDK/VBDK) pump series are designed to process complex media with high dry solids and variable viscosities.
“Dry solid content varies widely across biogas installations,” Clark explained. “Our pumps—particularly the Biomix and Biomass series—can handle this variation with ease. Whether it’s food waste, silage, municipal waste, or liquid manure, we’ve got a solution.”
The Biomix Pump is equipped with a large auger feed screw for enhanced mixing and homogenization, helping operators maximize gas production. Meanwhile, the RBDK series—built on Roto’s Maintenance in Place (MIP) platform—offers easy serviceability without dismantling suction or delivery lines, saving both time and labor costs.
Roto’s VBDK vertical pumps are also ideal for handling abrasive or corrosive media in open lagoons, thanks to features like agitator screws and special sealing systems designed to withstand harsh biogas environments.
Innovation on Display
A key highlight at this year’s expo will be the Roto KWIK range, including the RMCK series, which simplifies maintenance with clamp-based dismantling and split coupling rod technology. These design choices allow for tool-friendly access, drastically reducing downtime and increasing pump longevity.
Also featured will be Roto’s Wear Compensation Stator, a proprietary system that extends the life of the pump by allowing operators to adjust for stator wear using a simple spacer-based assembly. This innovation helps maintain consistent performance over time, reducing total cost of ownership.
“We’ve had customers use our products in the same installations for 10 years with no issues,” Clark said. “That kind of reliability doesn’t just happen—it’s built into the design.”
Local Support, Global Reach
While Roto operates worldwide, its UK and Ireland operations offer distinct advantages. With a substantial inventory held at the Manchester facility and in-house capabilities for testing and assembly, the company can respond quickly to urgent customer needs.
“Support is crucial in this space,” Clark said. “Because we cover the UK and Ireland exclusively, our customers benefit from fast service, technical expertise, and ready availability of spare parts.”
Roto’s retrofit program is another advantage. The company supplies parts for existing competitor pumps at more competitive prices—without compromising on quality, tolerances, or warranties. This has often served as an entry point to long-term partnerships and full system replacements.
